  • The Robert Fitzroy Academy recognises the importance that parental support and intervention has on a child’s achievement; We view parents as partners with us in their child’s learning, and operates an ‘open-door’ policy.

We know from national research that children do better at school and achieve more in life when schools and parents work together. Therefore, the school and parents both have crucial roles to play. By working together, we can ensure that every child reaches his/her potential in school and beyond. On entry to The Robert Fitzroy Academy, parents, teachers and pupils are asked to sign our ‘Home-School Agreement’ which sets out the school’s aims and our individual responsibilities in ensuring the very best opportunities for our children. So that we can support parents seeking to be actively involved in their children’s education we run a variety of workshops and create opportunities where parents are able to come into school to work alongside their children to learn more about teaching methods and ways to support their child’s learning at home. We also organise:

    • Coffee mornings
    • Learning ‘festivals’
    • Family celebration assemblies
    • Termly teacher/parent meetings

The PTA would like as many people as possible to get involved but we understand that this may not be possible due to other commitments, so please keep in touch via e-mail, or via class reps. If you want to get in touch please e-mail us at pta@robertfitzroyacademy.com.

We encourage parents to become reading volunteers and also ask parents to accompany the class on school trips. We need regular volunteers to help us with swimming lessons. If this is something you can help us with please get in touch with the school office or speak with your child’s class teacher.
Before you contact us, please read our Volunteer Handbook which you can find here then complete the application form.
