  • The Robert Fitzroy Academy is committed to becoming a fully extended school and is making great progress in this area. Our School Day is extended from 7:30am to 6:15pm and the school is open for 48 weeks of the year for holiday provision. Increasingly, the school is also available to the community at weekends.

    There is no single model of an extended school but extended services are designed primarily to raise standards of achievement and allow children to realise their full potential in an environment where education is valued.

    The services offered by extended schools can help you as parents to balance work and family commitments, develop your parenting skills, become involved in your child’s learning and support them in their efforts, and give them a broader range of experiences and interests. They also enable you and the wider community to make use of the school’s facilities.

    What extra services are currently provided at RFA?

    • ‘Wrap-around’ child care including holiday provision
    • Stimulating activities, skills classes and additional learning opportunities for your child
    • Parenting and family support
    • Better access to a range of specialist support services
    • Increased community access to school facilities

    Activities

    There are lots of different types of activities available or coming soon, including:

    • breakfast clubs, after-school clubs and summer schemes
    • study support
    • play and recreation
    • sport and fitness classes
    • drama
    • music
    • ICT, cookery and language lessons
    • arts, crafts and other special interest clubs

    Portside Out (P.O) - Breakfast Club

    Exclusively to RFA pupils, we offer a Monday to Friday Breakfast club service from 07:30am to 08:50am. The breakfast club provides a calm, safe environment for pupils in the familiar surroundings of their own school. Our ‘Portside Out’ play workers are there to help the children transition easily into the school day. Harrison caterers provide a choice of cereal, fruit and a hot breakfast each morning.     Our service provides the flexibility to book part time (1 or 2 sessions) or full time sessions on a termly basis - Subject to availability.

    The cost is £4.00 per child, per day and can be paid for online via ParentPay.

    Starboard Home (S.H) – After-School club

    The after-school club operates from Monday to Friday afternoons with activities running from 15.00 until 18.15 during term time. Our after-school club is a safe, fun, and friendly environment. Our ‘Starboard Home’ play workers help to continue the children’s learning experiences through play. Harrison Caterers provide a range of evening snacks. See the menu here.

    Our service provides the flexibility to book part time (1 or 2 sessions) or full time sessions on a termly basis - Subject to availability.

    The cost is £12.00 per child, per day and can be paid for online via ParentPay.
